Kids Cooking Camps

 

Who: Leaning Ladder will host 9- week long camps during the summer months for kids ages 7 to 15.

What: Week long cooking camps

Where: At Leaning Ladder 105 East Main Street, Suites 126 & 116, Woodstock, GA 30188

When: June 3rd to August 2nd.

Why: To give children an education on food and food safety. Therefore, giving them the tools and knowledge to prepare dishes for themselves, friends, and family members.

 

 

General Info:

Classes are subject to cancellation if we have fewer than 5 children signed up.

  • The classes will last 2 ½ hours each, (10am – 12:30pm for the 7 to 10 age group; 1:30pm to 4pm for the 11 to 15 age group).
  • Each week there will be a different theme for classes; if children want to take multiple weeks of classes they will not learn the same foods/techniques twice.
  • The 5-day long classes will cost $225/per child; they will receive the recipes from that week’s class plus a Leaning Ladder (L.L.) branded apron. *Please note: These series’ are only available as a five-day series. No single-day enrollments.
  • Menus may change based on availability of ingredients.
  • Chefs may change based on scheduling conflicts.
  • Not a parent involved class.
  • IMPORTANT:
  • Leaning Ladder must be notified of any allergies/dietary restrictions at time of registration
  • All classes are hands on – parents/legal guardians are required to sign a waiver for their children on the first day of camp.
  • The parent/legal guardian must come inside to pick up and drop off their child.
  • Closed-toe, non-slip shoes are a must.

Cancellation Policy:

  • Leaning Ladder will need to cancel classes if we have fewer than 5 children signed up.
  • Camps may be cancelled via email notification (leaningladderoliveoil@gmail.com) 7 days in advance of your scheduled camp. Refunds cannot be given if cancelled with less than 7 days notice.

What we want children to take away from the class

  • Basic Knife skills including chopping, slicing, dicing, safe handling, and other kitchen safety. (Parents will be required to let us know before the start of the first class if they think their child will be able to safely handle a knife and follow the directions given).
  • To learn basic skills that make cooking enjoyable for kids.
  • To get kids comfortable with kitchen equipment.
  • Gain appreciation for foods from around the world by learning how to prepare them.

What to Expect – Students can expect to learn kitchen safety (including safe knife handling), fun summer recipes they can make at home, and to work together with a team.

Day 1: Amber: Watermelon Fries & Coconut Lime Dip / Grilled Chicken Kabobs, Rice, Mango Salsa / Fruit Pizza

Day 2: Oakley: Lemon Pepper Chicken Wings with Celery Carrots and Homemade Ranch Dip

Day 3: Jack: Watermelon Feta Salad / Hot Dog Variations with Mexican Street Corn and Roasted Herb Potatoes / Lemon Bars

Day 4: Tacos! Shrimp Tacos with Mango Slaw / Chicken Street Tacos / S’mores Tacos

Day 5: Sunisa: Thai Basil Roll / chicken fried rice / peach sorbet

 


Monday June 17th – Friday June 21st:  Baking, What is it?
1:30pm – 4:00pm (11 to 15 age group)
5 day classes – $225 per child

What to Expect – Students can expect to learn proper kitchen safety, how to work together as a team, and different ways to use an oven to bake savory and sweet foods.

Day 1: Amber: Filo Wrapped Asparagus / Spinach & Cheese Quiche / Crème Brulee

Day 2: Sunisa: Scone with lemon curd / baked fried chicken / baked cauliflower with Parmesan cheese

Day 3: Jack: Biscuits and Sausage Gravy / Strawberry Shortcakes

Day 4: Meatloaf with Roasted Potatoes / Baked Donuts with Chocolate Sauce

Day 5: Oakley: Homemade Pizza Pockets

 


Monday June 24th – Friday June 28th:  Kitchen Gadgets and How to Use Them
1:30pm – 4:00pm (11 to 15 age group)
5 day classes – $225 per child

What to Expect – Students can expect to learn about various kitchen gadgets that make cooking easier and more fun, how to work together as a team, and proper kitchen safety.

Day 1: Amber: Sous Vide – Honey Glazed Pork Chops / SV Glazed Carrots / SV flourless chocolate cake

Day 2: Oakley: Pasta Maker – Homemade Pasta with marinara meat sauce

Day 3: Jack: Pressure Cooker (or instapot) – Beef Stew / Chocolate Lava Cake

Day 4: Air Fryer – Southern Fried Chicken Sandwich / Potato Chips / Hand Pies (Chocolate, Blueberry)

Day 5: Sunisa: Asian taco cup / homemade guac and chips / fresh mango lemonade mocktails

 


Monday July 8th – Friday July 12th:  Around the World in 5 days
10:00am – 12:30pm (7 to 10 age group)
5 day classes – $225 per child

What to Expect – Students can expect to learn to appreciate foods from around the world and how to make them. They will also learn kitchen safety (including proper knife handling) and to work together as a team.

Day 1: Amber: Moroccan – Baba Ghanoush / Spiced Carrots & Beef Kebab / Orange Cake

Day 2: Oakley: Cuban Sandwiches with Yucca Fries

Day 3: Jack: Jamaican Beef Patties / Jerk Chicken with Rice & Peas

Day 4: Crepes: Savory and Sweet

Day 5: Sunisa: California Roll / Teriyaki Chicken & Fried Rice / Honey Toast

10:00am – 12:30pm (7 to 10 age group)

Day 4: Melissa: Recipes from Harry Potter’s newly released cookbook!
(7-10 age group) Brunch with Aunt Petunia – Mini Vegetable Quiches, Oven Baked Candied Bacon, Strawberry & Blueberry Cheesecake Muffins
(11-15 age group) Harry & Hermione’s High Tea – Aunt Petunias Pudding (English Strawberry Trifle), Preacher’s Almond Peach Tart.  Dudley’s Chocolate Peanut Butter Crunch Bon Bons, Butterbeer “Tea” (non-alcoholic)

Day 5: Sunisa: Scones with lemon curd / bake fried chicken / bake cauliflower with Parmesan cheese
